got to get back

Blog post from VOGUE ON THE RANGE. I just HAD to re-post. I HAVE to get back here soon!
I miss being inside the Beltway every. single. day.  I love driving in traffic on 395, jockeying for a cab after late nights at Mr. Smith's, hiking around Roosevelt Island, the unmistakable smell of the Metro, brunch at Eastern Market, dinner on the Waterfront, cherry blossoms, motorcades,  champagne and oysters on the half-shell, 4th of July, over-spending at Georgetown boutiques...and I could go on and on!

There's also something I adore about D.C. style.  Sartorialists have long snarked that Washingtonians are fashion-less, soul-less, and conservative when it comes to style, but I contend that we simply know the secrets of a classic.  D.C. is rife with J.Crew coats, David Yurman cable bracelets, pearl earrings, Burberry scarves, and the ever-popular Longchamp Le Pliage tote. What's not to love?  Sure, maybe we let our Capitol badges hang a bit conspicuously after hours, and have been known to don "sensible" footwear for the long trek across the M Street Bridge, but Washingtonians have a deep sense of propriety that exudes in their daily wardobe, allowing them to address serious matters (national security,  health care, anyone?)  without untoward fashion distraction.  No matter which side of the aisle you hail from, I think we can all agree that no one is going to argue with a classic!

Just where I NEED to be!
