"Take me to Berlin then...."

My friend Melanie and I have formed a tradition since the summer of Sunday afternoons at the movies.  We go see normally the latest chick flicks.  This summer included: Charlie St.Cloud, Eat.Pray.Love and today we went to see Going the Distance. I thought this movie looked pretty funny from the previews, but I had no idea that I would have enjoyed it as much as I did.  It was the perfect movie for my age range.  This was a movie for 21-30 year old.  It's older college student to just entering the working world crowd. Looking or settled in at a first job and still looking for that relationship and still enjoying having youth fun.  Drew Barrymore and Justin Long are such a fun couple in this movie.  There romance is real (probably because they are together in real life.) Also they don't look like a perfect/Hollywood match. They look like people you hang out with every day.  The humor of the supporting characters carry this movie well.  The two best friends of Long's character as well as Barrymore's sister played by Christina Applegate.  All key elements of what make the film actually funny.

Yes, the movie does get a little raunchy/guy movie like, BUT unlike other movies where that is the only funny part, which makes it not funny, this movie balances it with a good romantic comedy sweetness.  It's such a good mixture of the girl/guy date movie.  It's one that both girls & guys can enjoy.  Balance is the key of this movie.  Characters are funny, story lines good, scenery is beautiful, and soundtrack...AMAZING.

Really enjoyed it. I haven't really thought a movie was very funny in a while. This one is. If you are younger that is. I feel this movie is for a very particular audience...the rest just wouldn't get it/like it.
