I've been very excited about this movie since I saw the preview months ago. Reasons for EXCITEMENT:
Reason #1 it was written by this man:
Aaron Sorkin is the writer of all my favorite things: The West Wing, The American President, Charlie Wilson's War, and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Writing genius. His dialogue is like a dance between ball room partners. Everything fits just so right together to make something beautiful. If one person is off the whole scene is down the drain. Genius.
Reason #2 I love a good tagline and this one delivered:
Reason #3: I love films about true events. I like to leave the theatre being able to research more about the characters and their lives. I love to discuss with friends and family the lives of the people after seeing the movie and knowing where they are now and whats happened since the movie. I also like to read about what the people portrayed think about the movie and if the movie is even true. The best part about this one is that I feel like I was a part of it in some way because I have a facebook and I use facebook and I am a part of the now 500 million friends. I remember when it first appeared in my life and I remember when it used to be an exclusive thing where only those invited could be members. I feel so much a part of it and the history of it which makes me even more of a fan.
Reason #4: good casting.
Jesse Eisenburg portrays Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
Justin plays Napster creator Sean Parker. The side by side shows that he's a pretty good look a like.
Eduardo Savrin is played by Andrew Garfield ( who is quite the cutie) The movie plays off that this character gets screwed over, but in reality he's worth $1.1 billion due to his facebook stocks. He's living pretty well.
Reason #5: good quotes
Sean Parker: One suggestion: Get rid of the "the". Just *Facebook*. Flows better.
Sean Parker: One suggestion: Get rid of the "the". Just *Facebook*. Flows better.
Gage: Mr. Zuckerberg, do I have your full attention?
Mark Zuckerberg: [stares out the window] No.
Gage: Do you think I deserve it?
Mark Zuckerberg: [looks at the lawyer] What?
Gage: Do you think I deserve your full attention?
Mark Zuckerberg: I had to swear an oath before we began this deposition, and I don't want to perjure myself, so I have a legal obligation to say no.
Gage: Okay - no. You don't think I deserve your attention.
Mark Zuckerberg: I think if your clients want to sit on my shoulders and call themselves tall, they have the right to give it a try - but there's no requirement that I enjoy sitting here listening to people lie. You have part of my attention - you have the minimum amount. The rest of my attention is back at the offices of Facebook, where my colleagues and I are doing things that no one in this room, including and especially your clients, are intellectually or creatively capable of doing.
[pauses]
Mark Zuckerberg: Did I adequately answer your condescending question?
Good Saturday night at the movies. I highly recommend this film. I went to see it with Rebecca Keating, who NEVER goes to the movies, she liked it so that is saying something. After the movie it was over to Molly West apartment and then thats where hours of watching PBR (professional bull riding) ensued. That's for another blog and another day.
Night.
