a ticket for...

So the holidays meant a lot of trips to the Malco and Cinemark for myself and the family.  The Clayton family loves movies no denying it.  Here's a run down:

Christmas Day meant a trip for the whole family {minus Josh-he's a party pooper} to see Little Fockers.  I have enjoyed the whole Meet the Parent's series and this one did not disappoint.  Most people don't like sequels especially when it's round 3, but I love continuation {hence why I love soaps} I like to know what happens next.  I'm a huge fan of the sequel {which is good, because that is all that comes out these days}.  It was very much enjoyable...could have used a little more Streisand/Hoffman but that's my only complaint.

Next up was True Grit.  My dad loves movies, especially westerns, and especially John Wayne.  He was excited for this movie since the previews first began months ago.  The Cohen brothers did this remake so you never no what to expect.  We were definitely not disappointed.  You can't compare it to the orginal because its a whole different kind of movie and the makers took it into a different direction, which is supposively more along the lines of the book.  Jeff Bridges was brilliant.  He was much deserving of his Oscar last year for Crazy Heart and could be picking it up a second year for this performance.  Matt Damon and Josh Brolin also did a wonderful jobs.  But the real star was the 14 year old Hailee Steinfeld.  She held her on with 3 top Hollywood males.  It was exciting and entertaining the whole way through.

Ok, Now for my obsessions.

Black. Swan.
Amazing.
Natalie Portman better win an Oscar for this.  This movie was so intense and dark, yet beautiful and poetic as a ballet should be.  John and I went to see this and we both were huge fans.  The darkness and mental emotions that are explored keep you thinking about it after you leave the theater.  The way the picture was gritty and everything in shades of gray added to the excitement and thrill of the movie. I loved it.

And for my most favorite of all favorites:

Country Strong.

I've been so excited about this movie for so long. First of all I love Leighton Meester and I love country music.  This is the perfect film for me. Gywneth Paltrow is breathtaking and Tim McGraw came out of no where with this character.  He truly transformed himself. Oh and Garrett Hedlund just got cuter and cuter as he sang his way into my heart.

I love that it is about the South and it was made in the South.  There are great location scenes at some of Nashville and Dallas' favorite hot spots which is really cool and it gets to the root of country music.  I also liked the accents.  They weren't over the top and people also weren't sweating the whole time like most movies about the south {memo to other filmmakers: take a note, we have air conditioners} I. Loved. It.
The first thing I did was come home and put all songs from the film on my iPod. It's Amazing.  please go see.

oh, and a video of my favorite song: Give Into Me

Okay, now back to more job searching.
