I made this yellow and chocolate marble cake with a classic chocolate frosting. I haven't tried it yet but my parents both seem to find it tasty.
Friday night, Mom, Dad and I went to see African Cats, the Earth Day movie made by Disneynature. It was a documentary type film that told the story of two Lion prides and a Cheetah mother and her babies. It was very informative and entertaining to watch. {also made me want to drive to Florence to have a visit with Una and Leo III}
Saturday my mother found it necessary for me to dye some Easter eggs. I'm always very excited at the beginning of this task every year, but towards the middle I get bored with it. This year she bought me this Bright & Shiny egg decorating kit, which was something new. My mom and I are egg dying handicapped. Every year ours turn out looking less that Martha Stewart worthy. They speckle, spot, or just come out wrong and its so frustrating. Well this year was no different....BUT the Bright and Shiny allowed it to look purposeful and artsy. We were proud of the outcome.
It definitely was frustrating at times because the glue/paper didn't want to cooperate together. I've also learned from craft projects: the way the directions say to do it, usually don't work out for me. I always have to find my own rhythm. We both enjoyed the way they turned out and it was nice sitting outside on such a pretty day working on them.
I tried a little purple and gold sparkle on the yellow {a little UNA inspiration}
We finished the afternoon by going over to the Johnson's for their annual Easter egg hunt. It was such a beautiful day for it. We enjoyed great snacks and great company while watching the kids run around with their baskets. Dad's about to grill some burgers. yummmm!
I love Easter weekend.
