I am really excited about heading home a week from TODAY! {yayyyyy} I can't wait to pull into 1092 Countrywood Cove and soak in all the Christmas cheer! For the moment though, I am really enjoying the holiday season in DC. This past weekend I went with my friend Christa and her boyfriend MV to Mount Vernon. I had never been before and it was a beautiful place. I think my favorite part is the view of the Potomac from the back porch. I also enjoyed the gingerbread replica of the place done by a former White House pastry chef. On the way home we stopped at a KFC...we were excited about some good fried southern goodness!
This week has been full of holiday cheer at work with the delivery of numerous gift baskets every single day. We get so many. It's seriously going to make me sick from picking at the stuff every day. It's just so tempting because it sits all around my desk. I need no more chocolate in my life. No. More!
We also had a belated birthday party celebration for me and another guy in our department this week. Last week was so crazy with Congress there was no time for celebration, but I was very surprised with the little party this week.
We also had our entire staff holiday party downtown at this restaurant called Cuba Libre. There was a band and salsa dancers. It was fun! Lots of good Spanish food. I really enjoyed myself!
I finally purchased all my holiday gifts! I ordered them all online and had them sent to my parents house...online shopping is really the best thing ever. Ordered everything from the comfort of my lunch hour at work. I'm just not all into the holiday crowds plus I didn't want to have to travel home with everything.
There will be more holiday parties come Friday and then a weekend of rest {hopefully} and cleaning {REALLY needs to happen} and getting ready to be home for the holidays!
