strollin'

Yesterday was such a BEAUTIFUL day in the District and I was itching to be outside and enjoy some sun. I slept in for a bit and then I was up and at it. I had some breakfast and put on some comfy clothes and my tennis shoes and headed downtown. I got off the metro at Metro Center and just walked for hours from there. I first headed over towards the Mall. Stopped and got a bite to eat and set outside and once I was finished continuted my journey.
I walked up past the Washington Monument, down to the WWII Memorial and then headed over to walk around the Tidal Basin. I ended up walking around the whole thing. I passed the MLK Jr memorial and then I decided to walk through the FDR memorial. I hadn't been there since my first tirp to DC in 8th grade. It's so peaceful. I think it might be my favorite memorial in DC. I love the waterfalls and the layout is really neat. Definitely a must see. I sat down for a bit on a bench and talked to Bayley & John on the phone as they were making their trip back to Michigan and then I walked some more.

I kept journeying around the Tidal Basin and towards the Jefferson Memorial. I walked up the stairs and went inside the dome for a bit and then I took a seat on the top step. It's such a beautiful view of the White House and Washington Monument. I decided to sit for a while and write in my journal. It was such a perfect place for thought and reflection. I sat there and journaled for about an hour and then decided to continue my journey. I walked the rest of the way around the water and was back at the Mall in front of the Washington Monument. Since I was in the city, I decided to venture over to my friend Christa's apartment to see her for a bit.

I sat and talked and hungout with her for an hour or so and then we decided to join her boyfriend MV for dinner at this place downtown called Hill Country.  None of us had been before and it was SO good! I got some brisket, mac & cheese, green bean casserole, corn bread and sweet tea!
It was definitely some good southern food. I couldn't eat it all, but it was so yummmmmy! Definitely a place to go on an empty stomach. After dinner I went to Barnes & Nobel for a bit and then got on the metro headed home.  It was definitely a good day in dc.

The only bad thing was, I didn't sleep at all last night. Since I got home I haven't been able to stop coughing, sneezing and my heads been hurting. I went to CVS to get some medicine this morning and have been in the bed since. I hope I will get over this and have a good week ahead!
