5 Reasons I'm going to have a hard time till the return of Downton Abbey in January 2013:

So all I've heard about for the past few months is how awesome Downtown Downton Abbey is and so I finally decided to head over to my Netflix queue and press play. What an effin' amazing, awesome MISTAKE that was. Of course I was instantly hooked and spent the rest of my weekend watching all 7 first season episodes. Then the next week trying to get out of work as soon as possible and bustling over people on the metro so I could get home and watch the season 2 episodes on PBS.com. This all lead up to me watching the Christmas Special episode live on Masterpiece this past Sunday glued to my couch and tweeting Dowager quotes as quickly as I could type them out.

Now...after two weeks of obsession, it's GONE. What the HELL?!{sorry, but it's warranted} I don't understand why we have to wait till JANUARY 2013. After much googling and tweet stalking the stars I know that they are currently in production, so I think they could have it American ready by at LEAST September/October. I mean how long could it really take?! American shows do 18-20 epsiodes a season  and only start filming a month before the new season airs...I'm just saying, lets step it up United Kingdom! I'm dyinggggg here.

What I'm going to miss the most:

  1. The Dowager: Certainly the most obvious, best part of this show. I mean first of all it's Maggie Smith and second of all she gets the best lines. I want an entire greeting card collection dedicated to them. There are some great Tumblrs out there that can fill my day-to-day need, but I'm going to need some originals as soon as possible.
  2. Hating Thomas & O'Brien: They are just pure evil. The kind of pure evil that you can't wait to see what they are going to do next, but when you have really had it with them they decide to show some care and compassion. I found myself wanting Thomas to get the valet job even though I was mad about the dog-napping...and I still can't figure out why. I mean why would I ever ROOT for Thomas...it's really freaking me out. This is what Jullian Fellows does to people.
  3. dollsome-does-tumblr: “Do you think she would have been happy with a fortune hunter?”“She might have been. I was.”“Have you been happy? Really, have I made you happy?”“Yes. That is, since you fell in love with me. Which, if I remember correctly, was about a year after we were married.”“Not a year. Not as long as that.”

  4. Cora & Robert bed time chats: I love how they sleep in the same bed and it's so against the custom of the time. I love more that they try to keep up appearances by keeping his bed made up in his own room so no one knows they sleep in the same bed. There is something so cute and romantic about that. I love when he comes in in his robe and jammies and they talk while she's putting on her lotion. I really hope they explore them more in Season 3. I find Cora very interesting and want to know more about the whole genesis of their relationship. Robert must redeem himself from the little tryst in the pantry with the boring Jane. I mean really, what was THAT about?!
  5. The Infamous "Night of the Turk" sweeping into every conversation and plot line: Ummm. The fact that the little Turkish Delight died in the midst of Mary's shaming moment fascinates me. That is the best kind of plot point ever. I love how it is woven into almost every storyline too. Everyone seems to know and is using it against someone in some way. Cora's face when she is awakened in the night to move an indecent Pamuk to the bachelor suite is the BEST Cora face. Probably my favorite Cora moment. I've never seen someone so horrified. I love the whole concept, and I hope it continues to be a cause of strife...just because it's so darn funny and soap operaish.

  7.  Edith trying to get someone, anyone to marry her : I just can't decide how I feel about Edith. She's a total bitch one moment, total lame-o the next, and then I feel sorry for her lack of prospects the next. I mean really, what was up with making out with the farmer? That was crazy and then she had the "Canadian, imposter" {dumbest thing of the whole show}, and then of course the old man who now has no arm function. Is there seriously no one out there interested in a ginger with time & love to offer?!
These are just FIVE of the many things I'll be thinking about in the next..oh YEAR pretty much. Seriously, I think a petition is in order to get Downton FASTER. Who's with me?
