My {bandwagon} weekend

So I spent Friday and all day Saturday reading and finishing The Hunger Games. I know I am incrediably late to this book party, but oh and I happy I showed up at all! I had seen the previews to the movie, read countless tweets from my friends, and basically heard every one I know including my brother John and Bayley talk about how amazing these books are...well they were right! I couldn't quit reading once I got started. What I love most about the book is that it's not a girl book or a boy book. It has something for everyone. Also it's not sappy or sugarcoated, and since I've been reading non fiction for a while, it was fun to get lost in a new, ficitonal world of characters. If there is anyone out there who has not given into this series yet, get on it. I will be purchasing the next book, Catchinging Fire, PRONTO.
Another bandwagon I  got moving on was the Masterpiece Theater series Downton Abbey. I spent Saturday night {with a slight hiccup with the power going out} and Sunday afternoon watching the first season of this delicously, addictive story. The first episode begins in April of 1912 the morning after the Titanic has sunk.  The story centers around Robert and Cora Crawley, the Earl and Countess of Grantham and their three daughters Mary, Edith, and Sybil as well as their abundance of staff downstairs. The main focus is that there is no heir to the Grantham estate, Downton Abbey, because of Countess Cora having no son and the next in line was the cousin of the Earl, but he was aboard the Titanic, along with his son who was to be eldest daughter Mary's fiance. Now a stranger, Matthew Crawley, who is a third cousin is set to inherit everything. There are so many stories woven into this main central one and the hilarious Maggie Smith plays the mother of the Earl, Countess of Grantham Violet Crawley. It's just so so good. I can't wait to get started on Season 2!
Mary, Cora, and Violet: 3 generations of Crawley women. They are my favorites!
Another fabulous part of my weekend were the phone dates I had with my. bestesttttt friends! Friday night I got to chat with Leah Beth while she drove from Birmingham to Athens, Saturday while Malinda drove from Birmingham to Tallassee I got some greatttt laughter and catchup with her and then Saturday afternoon I got a good hour or so in while I was driving around doing errands with my BESTIE Brooke. I'm always so grateful for the conversations with my dear, dear friends! Never fails to put me in a fabulous mood. And of course I had a Saturday morning phone chat over coffee with my Mom! I always remember waking up on Saturday to my mom chatting with my granny growing up, and now my mom and I are having a weekly Saturday morning coffee chats. I love it.

How was your weekend?
