Ever since the 11th grade I have been a huge fan of F. Scott Fitzgerald's
The Great Gatsby. It was probably my favorite required reading of all of 11th grade AP English with Dr. Shelton. I devoted my first massive {I thought 10 pages at the time was MASSIVE..very pre college times}term/research paper to Daisy Buchanan and the question did she truly embody the role of a 1920s flapper? I haven't read the book since then, but I seem to see it popping up all over my world {tumblr, pinterest, blogs} these days. I guess that has to do with the remake movie coming to theatres this Christmas. I must admit I can't wait to see Leo, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan take on the roles of Gatsby, Nick and Daisy. I really just want to read it all over again as my 24 year old self. I feel like it will take on a whole new perspective, different from my 16/17 year old brain that indulged in it the first time around. Here's a reason I love this book:
Can't you just see that SMILE????
The 20s is just a FUN time to escape to in a book. A time of glitz and glamour and a little bit of danger thrown in with a carefree attitude! Who wouldn't want to hike up their hemline, bob their hair & do the Charleston for a short time?? Maybe I'll get a reread in before the movie in December! Putting it on the to-do list.
