What a Difference a Year Makes: Part I

Since I started my blog fairly recently, I really wanted to post some pictures from previous events before my blog. Then I realized what an amazing year of college I just experienced. I can't believe everything that has happened. I also can't believe all the wonderful people in my life and all the things I have been able to do. So here's a look at a year in the life Part I.

It all began with Welcome Week 2009. My first big event as SGA Vice President for the University Program Council. It is what we as a council had been working on all summer. An awesome first week at UNA for all the incoming freshman as well as for returning students. WW is such a fun time at UNA, probably one of my favorites.

Next comes Sorority Recruitment. I served as the Vice President of Judicial during the fall for the Panhellenic Council. This means I had to disaffliate from my sorority for the summer as well as be responsible for handling all Rush infractions filed between the sororities. During the recruitment week I had to live at the Hamption Inn in downtown Florence with my fellow council members. Lots of fun memories. from this week. My favorite is probably having all the freshman girls do the Cupid Shuffle in the Appleby Courtyard while waiting to go to parties as well as hanging in the beach chairs with my fellow exec members eating candy and reading mags during parties.

Homecoming soon followed. This was the next big week for the UPC. We had Step Show, GUC Window paintings, a movie night, a concert, pep rally, parade and of course homecoming court elections. So busy, yet so much fun!

Next on the agenda was flying to Dallas, TX with the University Program Council chairs for NACA which is the National Association for Collegiate Programming. Here we here bands, commedians, spoken word artist, educational speakers etc do an auditions day after day in order to try to be booked on our campus. We also go to educational workshops to learn how to better program for our campus. There are also lots of fun novelties and activities to do while at the conference. It was a very informative and bonding experience for the chairs and myself as well as for our chaperons Melanie and Adam.

So many more things happen throughout the year. Fraternity weeks, mixers, and other campus events. Fall is so busy and it's always one thing right after the other...but that's how I like things. Busy!

Campus Outreach Hosts an International Thanksgiving Dinner for all the International students at UNA. Basically it's a free traditional American Thanksgiving feast with turkey, dressing, etc for international students. This helps teach them about the American culture as well as help them make friends with American students. All the fraternities and sororities get involved by working various food tables, playing hostess, and sitting and talking with the students.

Tis the Season:

Christmas parties galore this year. I feel like there was one everyday starting December 1. Very busy time, but of course as always very fun. For our last chapter of the semester we decided to have a Holiday sisterhood night at our adviser Dr. Bullard's house. We played Secret Santa, wore Tacky Christmas Sweaters, painted stockings, and ate Christmas cookies. Very fun night.

What a great Fall 2009. I am so blessed beyond words. I don't deserve all that I have but I am so thankful for all the wonderful friends and family in my life. They really are the BEST.
Part II of this oh, so fabulous year will be up shortly.
