Since school started back, I have neglected my blog. I am back now and am going to try to be more diligent about my postings. Since my last post I have started my LAST semester of college, started some new classes, survived sorority recruitment, and made it out a live without
One of my last classes I am taking at UNA is Communication Law. This class is not a requirement of my major, but due to the class I needed conflicting with another class I needed I am substituting it with this one. I know that any other class with have been FAR less difficult than this one, but I am learning a lot even if it does require more homework then I would have liked. Dr. Martin is teaching this class. For those of you who have no idea who this man is let me give you a little description. Dr. Martin: short, rounded, Santa like beard, wears suspenders with his suit & tie, when he lectures it's like a church sermon ( he used to be a Church of Christ preacher) he jumps around, his face gets red, and he gets so excited. I've had a few of his classes since being at UNA and no matter the class it always begins with a history of Johann Gutenberg and the invention of the printing press. He loves to give a history lesson. He gets so passionate. Many complain (even me at times) but I do respect and enjoy his passion. This class is ideally perfect for me. He combines my two favorite things: communication & politics. We study court cases in regards to the 1st Amendment. I write case briefs and we have to present them in class. Dr. Martin is all about the Socratic method. I could do with out it on some days, but it does force you to make sure you know your stuff. My other classes are okay. Nothing to write about really though.
Sorority recruitment has also passed. It was such a fun, dramatic, emotional, crazy experience (as it is every year). I really enjoyed my time spent with Panhellenic Exec and the Gamma Chis. I feel like I really made some great friendships with these girls, and had a whole lot of fun. Since we are disaffiliated from our sororities we all checked into the Hampton Inn on Florence Blvd for the extent of recruitment. A hotel + 17 college girls= no sleep, bad eating habits, and tons of fun. The Applebees next door became our new best friend. I don't think I can eat there again for quite some time. I had so much fun with these girls, but I sure was glad to run back to my chapter on bid day.
