zumba,zumba!


So since I was on the road for 9 days straight and adhered to a crazy sleeping/eating pattern I've been feeling very lethargic. I was definitely in need of some exercise and inspiration! I work out at Snap fitness in Tupelo and have been wanting to try out their group exercise classes for a while, but had a fear of going alone. I'm usually not one to care to do things by myself {eating out, going to movies, etc don't bother me at all}but going to a new exercise by myself is just something I hadn't built up the courage to do.
On Tuesday, my newly wed friend Mary Claire tweeted about attending Zumba at Snap and wanting a buddy. I text her about it, but she didn't get my message til it was too late. She then asked about Wednesday, but I had Bible study so we finally got together last night to go to the 5:30 class! It was WONDERFUL! I had so much fun. Zumba-which I'm sure all of you are aware- is a Latin inspired dance fitness program. It involves both dance and aerobic elements. It mixes up hip-hop, salsa, samba, merengue, mambo, and martial arts. It also includes lunges and squats. I especially loved the music used. There was some Latin music, but it also incorporated a lot of pop music as well. It started with a lot of Jennifer Lopez stuff {Let's Get Loud & On The Floor} and then went into some Beyonce and Tina Turner. My favorite was the "Proud Mary" portion. So much fun!
The class lasted for about an hour and it was full movement the whole time. I was definitely sweating and out of breath before we were even half way through.
Mary Claire and I have already made plans to attend the next class on Saturday. This is definitely my kind of work out!
