Loves of the Week:

1. Lydia McLaughlin: The newest housewife on Real Housewives of Orange County. She's a Jesus loving, pre-teen looking, living out her fairy tale OC life with her husband she met at church camp. When she entered the picture I didn't think I was going to be a fan, seeing that she was friends with Alexis, but as soon as she got into that limo and said, "I kind of agree with them" after Tamra's disaster gym party, I knew I was going to like her. The best moment was "I can see why they don't like her!" hahaha oh Lydia, you're my new favorite, Even if you have a abnormally small head that is disproportionate to your big eyes, mouth, and amount of hair.

2. Vine: I didn't see the point of ANOTHER app to document things, but I fell in with the crowd. I've had Vine on my phone for a while, mainly just to watch Al Roker's videos from bts at the Today Show, but I started posting a few this week. It's actually pretty fun, although I don't think anyone actually watches them. If you have Vine, come follow me @jessicaclayton! The best Viner out there is Eric Stonestreet {Cam, Modern Family} I mean he's a Vine genius. I would get Vine just to watch his stuff, hilarious, and the right amount of inappropriate at times!

3. OLITZ: Lets face it I love Scandal every day and every week, but last nights episode was one of the best EVER. So many jaw dropping, can't breathe moments.

I don't count on this lasting too long, but man was it exhilarating to watch. Also, I LOVE Mellie in that way that you LOVE LOVE to hate something. I think she is fantastic, so I look forward to more First Lady in your face, not backing down moments.

4. Diane Keaton has twitter and she just obsesses over things she finds on Pinterest. I love it. Follow her here. I love her bio.

 5. Reese Witherspoon arrest video: I don't think it's funny, and it doesn't make me love her more like the rest of America, I just think it's interesting, and REALLLLY embarrassing for her. TMZ has it, watch here. What would have made it GOLD: If Reese would have turned and said "...And you can't walk NO LINE!"

Friday was a day of friend catch up.  My bestie Brooke and I had been missing each others calls for about two weeks and we finally connected Friday morning while she was driving back to Starkville from a work presentation. We chatted for a good hour and a half. During that call Bayley beeped in so I promptly called her back when I got off with Brooke. Before all the phone calls started I had been in the middle of cleaning...I thought I was finally going to get back to it when I got a lovely surprise call from Anna Claire. She was driving to Tupelo for the weekend from Nashville. We chatted for 2 hours. I seriously haven't been on the phone this much in AGES. But its fun to catch up with good friends. I guess I'm the go-to-girl to call when you've got two hours of driving to kill.

My brother Josh came for a visit this weekend. He arrived Friday evening and then along with my parents we all went to eat some Japanese at the local Kyoto restaurant. So yummy. Saturday started with a lazy morning. My mom made us ham and biscuits and we ate them right up then all set out on the back patio and drank coffee and chatted for a few hours. Josh and I then went through my parents old record collection from college and such and went on the search for a turntable. We didn't have any luck, but he took some records back home with him and he was going to look online for one. I would have loved to have known the Karen that owned that record collection. It was fun hearing her talk about listening to them in her room as a teenager.

Saturday afternoon I went to Sam's and Kroger with my mom. Always an interesting experience. We did enjoy some good samples as always at Sams. Mom and I piled up on the magazines. I realize I get my love for the glossy pages from her. I don't why she ever admonishes me for the habit because she is just as bad or maybe even worse. We spent the afternoon on the patio reading through these:

Saturday night my Grandmother came over to have a spaghetti dinner with us. We all hung out on the patio and chatted while we waited for supper to be ready. We ate and then had some wonderful fresh cut strawberries, angel food cake and homemade whip cream for dessert. 

After Grandmother left, I indulged in my favorite Washington event of the year via CSPAN and my DVR: The Annual White House Correspondent's Dinner. It's held every year at the Washington Hilton. The press comes, the President comes, celebrities come and everyone makes fun of the President and/or the Press. This years spotlight comedian was Conan O'Brien. It was quite fun to watch. Here's a look at President Obama's speech. Funny stuff.

I really think the person in charge of the invitations just decided to put all my FAVORITE people in one room that happens to be my favorite event and torture me. ALL OF THESE PEOPLE WERE THERE:

I MEAN SERIOUSLY. 

Sunday consisted of church services, amazing roasted chicken with potatoes & carrots, asparagus & apple turnovers, a great nap, wonderful ladies Bible study on Grandmothers, and some leftovers for dinner. 

I'd say it's been a pretty good weekend. How was yours?

The time has finally come. Jay Leno is OFFICIALLY {I think it's really happening this time} saying farewell to The Tonight Show come 2014. In steps Jimmy Fallon of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and SNL fame. I have to say I'm pretty pumped. I thoroughly enjoy Jimmy on Late Night and he brings a lot of funny to the table that I enjoy. He is going to bring my generation to the Tonight Show couch every night {or at least have them tuning in online the next morning at work} The thing about Jimmy is: he has his celeb guests play beer pong, hosted a California Dreams reunion, and had an entire week of Justin Timberlake. THAT is my kind of late night viewing. Also, Jimmy's not just taking over the reigns of the legendary Tonight Show, he's bringing it back to it's original home, New York City. No more LA--Jimmy Kimmel's got it covered.

Like most ALL girls of my generation...I love some JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE. He just has the charm, the look, the voice, and the style. He's the only boy-bander from the 90s to make the transition just perfectly into adulthood. I'm enjoying his new album and WISH BEYOND WISHES to see him & Jay-Z on their tour. {don't see that happening though}

I love, loved his 5th hosting gig on SNL a few weeks ago. And have thoroughly enjoyed his stint on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last week.

Just wanted to share two videos I can't stop listening to/watching:

When I was in college, one random night some of my sorority sisters and I watched the Disney cartoon of Robin Hood, and I became obsessed with the song Not in Nottingham. I couldn't get it out of my head and it became a joke because I would constantly sing the verse "Sometimes the ups outway the downs, but not in Nottingham" I seriously, would continously repeat this part of the song as a response to really anything anyone was saying...I'm not really sure why, but I couldn't stop doing it. I found this video of the song on Tumblr last week and I couldn't WAIT to share it with my friends Jordan & Kaitlin. Thought I would share it here too...I never can get enough Mumford & Sons, much less Disney songs. Enjoy.

You seriously can't IMAGINE how excited I get when this preview comes on TV. When Celine starts belting My Heart Will Go On I just can't handle it. So ready for April 13th.

Although, I'm kind of worried about that ONE scene in 3-D...You know which one I'm talking about. That might be a little too up close & personal with Kate Winslet. ha!

This is a funny video from Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. To promote the First Lady's Let's Move initative, Jimmy came to the White House to take part in a fitness contest between the two. It's pretty funny. They do stair racing, hula hoop, tug of war, push ups, and the final potato sack race tie breaker.

I'm an X Factor fan! After the first week I wasn't sure because it was way over produced and had one guy that was just disgusting, but this week it TOTALLY redeemed itself. Seriously, there are some GOOD people that I can't wait to see at boot camp next week.I really think American Idol is going to need to die because X Factor is taking over.

One of my favorites from auditions is Drew Ryniewicz. Her intro video made her seem kind of like an annoying 14 year old and then I remembered she is actually just acting her age. She definitely has Bieber Fever, but she sings Baby {a Bieber song} like Adele. It's fantastic! Check it out:

Josh Krajcik-Definitely didn't expect him to be good. His mom is a little obsessive and he really needs some grooming, but listen to him sing At Last..blow you away!

Melanie Amaro...just LISTEN

I was really excited to see Paula & Simon back together, but the stand out judge for me is LA Reid. He's just cool. I am definitely a fan of his. Nicole meshes well with the other three. They definitely have a good chemistry between the four of them, unlike when there were four judges on American Idol. Also the host is Steve Jones. He's from the UK and he's hot! seriously, watch out Seacrest!

I'm really excited to see where this goes, I think it's definitely a hit. The three videos above are just a few of the really great talents they have. Also it is different from AI in that they divide the contestants in four different groups: Boys, Girls, Groups, and Over age 30 and each judge has one category to mentor. That will be an interesting twist to see the judges with the contestants and helping them with song choice, style and such.

never forget.

I think ten years ago yesterday all of our childhoods died a little bit. As a 13 year old girl at Tupelo Middle School something that evil had never even come across my radar. It changed everything about our world. The way we travel, the way we watch the news, the way we laugh at jokes,  and the naivety we had that America was a super power that could never be infiltrated.  We remembered it all yesterday as the 10 year mark came and went. It changed me significantly, and I was just a young girl, safe in a insignificant southern town. I can't imagine how it would change those remotely in harms way. I was inspired by two commercials that were produced to honor those lost and those that risked their lives to save others during that tragic event. They aired during the football game last night. Very sweet.

The first was from State Farm. It was so precious and uplifting and of course gave me chills. You can't go wrong with some Jay Z New York State of Mind

The VMA's were this week. I really hate everything on MTV except for this event. I always enjoy a good award show. This big news of the night: BEYONCE and JAY Z are pregnant! I'm so excited. If you read my blog you know my obsession with all thing B! I just think she is the perfect music goddess. I love her. Here is her performance from the night, complete with baby bump reveal. I also enjoy Jay Z's face when she does this. It's saying "yeah, I did that."

a funny affair

So this past weekend there was an event that I have been looking forward to for quite sometime. And no, this is not another post about the Royal Wedding, but instead one of the best events of the year The White House Correspondents' Dinner. I'm sure most ALL of my readers haven't a clue what this even is nor probably care.

It happens once every year to honor and celebrate the White House press corps and their work covering White House news as well as the president.  You have all the major newspapers and television network reporters in the house as well as a few celebrities.  It's held every year at the Washington Hilton. The president, first lady, vice president, and second lady are always in attendance at the head table.  A comedian is always invited to pretty much make fun of the press, president, and everything else in Washington.  The president also gives a speech that is intended to be funny.  It's kind of a roast of the craziness of Washington.  It's broadcast on C-SPAN and I really watch it every year. When I say every year, I mean since probably 6th or 7th grade. I'm a nerd. I know. This year President Obama did a pretty good/funny job.  Here's the video from c-span's youtube channel. Enjoy.
